I’ve been obsessing over the Gucci Sylvie from the moment I saw it. After a visit to the Gucci flagship store in Sydney, I had decided that I was going to buy it in white. I returned the next day, super excited to purchase it, however was disappointed when I was told the last one had just been sold. Nonetheless, I had reserved the last one in the city straight away and made my way over to the Gucci store at The Crown Casino to buy it on Sunday night. Moral of the story? Never give up on anything you really, truly want. I have absolutely no regrets!
Bali has always lingered at the top of my travel list. After relocating to Sydney for university, I decided to take a trip to Indonesia with my best friend, Lucy. Being a six hour flight from Australia meant that I could enjoy a week in the Far Eastern sun before the new semester started at university.
My first stop was Seminyak. Being greeted with a refreshing coconut drink and cold towel then whisked away to tranquility in a blacked-out SUV was just the beginning of my stay at Sahana Villas. A gentle breeze danced through the coconut-rich palm trees as the scent of incense filled the air. I was welcomed into my new home for the next few days with an ice-cold lychee drink decorated elaborately with a white and yellow plumeria flower before being handed the keys to the three-bedroom luxury villa. The pool was the most inviting shade of turquoise I had seen and the bedrooms, the epitome of opulence. Deciding between three bedrooms, Lucy and I were spoilt for choice. In the end, we ended up staying in the same room and leaving another for our suitcases and clothes.
I spent the majority of my day at Sahana lounging by the pool, eating fresh watermelon and drinking water straight out of the coconut followed by a refreshing shower outdoors under the stars. Lucy and I decided to keep the evenings free for exploring the area, which usually ended in getting a scoop of gelato on our way home. The streets of Seminyak were busiest in the evenings, with cafe’s abundant with tourists swaying to the live music playing at the restaurants along the strip. The streets were lined with trendy boutiques, displaying a mix of ethnic and high-end designer fashion.
The following day was spent by the pool at Potato Head Beach Club. Although I could feel my skin frying in the Balinese sun, I dipped in and of the pool every half an hour and kept myself hydrated with a long list of mocktails the menu had to offer. After two unforgettable nights at Sahana, it was time to head to my next hotel, Ize Seminyak, which was quite literally a five minute walk down the road.
I was welcomed with a refreshing lime and coconut drink before being shown to my suite at Ize. Bright and airy, this was the perfect room for selfies! The hotel was the epitome of trendy with a modern twist. The open-plan room was complete with a bathroom large enough to play football in and a bed big enough for ten people to have a comfortable nights sleep. The first thing that caught my eye though, was the shower. A modern all- glass unit which could easily double-up as a steam room, decorated with plumerias and a contemporary rain shower told me I’d be spending a long time in there revitalizing after a long day in the sun.
After unpacking, Lucy and I were keen to explore the hotel. With several floors, a gym and rooftop pool, Ize Seminyak ticked all my boxes. Located on the main Seminyak strip, surrounded by trendy restaurants, chic boutiques and cafes, the hotel was walking distance to all the hotspots in the area.
The next day, we planned a day trip to Gili Islands. The girls at concierge were super helpful and arranged a private car to drive us to the marina where we would board our boat, which was to depart at 9am. As we were leaving before the hotel restaurant opened for breakfast, the chef prepared snack boxes for us, packed with pain au chocolates, fruit and juices. We were told that the only form of transport on the island was horse and cart or bicycle (we took the horse option!) Once we arrived in Gili Islands, we headed straight to Le Pirate, a cute resort and beach club located on the quieter side of the island on a powdery white beach lined with tall palm trees and beach hammocks. After a quick bite and swim in the crystal clear waters of Lombok, we headed back to the port.
We were welcomed back at Ize with refreshing drinks and headed straight up to the rooftop for a swim and to catch the sunset. I’d recommend Ize to anyone staying in Seminyak for a few days as it is located in the heart of the city and is a short walk to all the best restaurants in the area.
One nose job (each), two years, several bad outfit choices and lip fillers later, we’re finally back to the blogosphere, now twenty and ready to explore what the world has to offer us.
Having finally got our IGCSE’s and A-Level’s out of the way, we feel more confident than ever to get back into the swing of things, especially with the launch of our new YouTube channel PintsizedFashTV!
Three years on since we officially took a break from blogging, several templates later, we’ve decided to go back to basics and keep things simple. Whilst we initially would’ve loved to have a super glossy new layout our patience with web designers wore thin therefore we decided to take matters into our own hands and opted for the safest option, a very basic blog. At the end of the day it’s the content that makes a blog worth reading, which is so rare since the rise of Instagram hence why we will continuously strive to create interesting content, attempting to avoid becoming a slave to the industry with boring generic posts.
We invite all our readers to join us on our exciting new life adventures as independent, financially unstable (for now at least) young women as we enter our twentieth year of life more confused than a chameleon in a bag of skittles.
